Optional transport connection styles between Mombasa-Nairobi where we start the expedition to the Mount Kenya base are suggested on itinerary.

We begin the ascend via the sirimon route and exit Mount Kenya via the chogoria route.

The climbing itinerary offers us a gradual ascend with progressive acclimatization through wonderful tropical mountain scenery to the point Lenana.

The 4 nights, 5 days Mount Kenya climbing adventure is guide paced and supervised by a professional tropical mountain crew of a guide and porters.

We spend nights on mountain huts or in camps.

The vast bulk of the snow capped Mt. Kenya looms over the entire region of the central Kenya. The mountain is part of the central highlands. It is the highest mountain in Kenya and second in Africa after the Mt. Kilimanjaro.

For hikers, point Lenana at 4,895 m is the destination. This is accessed from different routes depending on your availability of time, budget and hiking experience. The view en-route, the physical exertion and the rough climbing experience combine to bring out a well-deserved sense of accomplishment to the climbers. We undertake Mt. Kenya climbing expeditions on all routes.

Day 1


We will connect from Mombasa to Nairobi by either of the suggested travel options i.e. public luxury coach, 1st or 2nd class overnight train or air/flight to meet our guide for the road journey to the mountain base........

We depart Nairobi mid-morning on a 3-hour road journey to Nanyuki township and mountain base. Lunch at our hotel. The remainder of the day spent with guide acclimatizing and sorting out climbing gear. Meals and overnight at our hotel.
Day 2: NANYUKI - OLD MOSES CAMP
Depart hotel after breakfast for a transfer to the Sirimon Park gate where climbing starts. We walk through the rain forest 9 kilometres, approximately 5 hours to the mountain hut, Old Moses. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses, 3,300 meters.
Day 3: OLD MOSES - SHIPTONS CAMP

After our breakfast at hut, we proceed with the ascent through Mckinders Valley to the second hut, Shimptons at 4,200 meters for meals and overnight.
Day 4: SHIPTONS HUT – OLD MOSES

D-DAY. At 0300hrs, we attempt Point Lenana, 4,985 meters. Sunrise from above. On a clear day, we should be able to see Mt. Kilimanjaro to the South, Mt. Elgon to the West and the Indian Ocean to the East. We descend to the Shimptons for breakfast and down to the Old Moses for overnight.
Day 5: OLD MOSES – NAIROBI
Breakfast at the Old Moses. We will descend to the park gate for our transport to Nanyuki proceeding to Nairobi to arrive in the late afternoon.
