Jambo!

My name is Joseph Mbotte, and I am a passionate African safari guide with a deep admiration for both wildlife and nature. I discovered my calling to be a safari guide after being inspired by the film “Born Free ” and getting to see a lion up close through a high school program that provided Kenya’s school children the opportunity to visit national parks.

After these great experiences, I decided to pursue an education in becoming a safari guide, studying both in the classroom and in the field to gain knowledge and expertise. After graduating, I apprenticed with a touring company and became a member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association after successfully passing the exams. A year of training as a junior guide further honed my skills, and in 1993, I embarked on my fulfilling career as a safari guide.

I am happiest when I get to experience the same excitement and thrill that I had on my first animal sighting, through the eyes of my guests. My specialty is to create a customized experience for my guests through accommodation and expertise.

I love the Masai Mara, there is an emphasis on individual animals that other parks do not have. It comes from both locals and guides alike truly wanting to be involved with the animals and the park.
