“A Treasure of Natural Wonder”

Kenya is the land of the safari… and safari means “journey” – to view the most spectacular wildlife in the world. It is here in Kenya, that visitors come to see Africa’s famous “Big Five”, and countless other game, streaking across the plains, lumbering through great forests, trampling by the millions through rivers and over rolling savannahs, and bringing light and colour to the skies above.

Whether your safari takes you to the red-soil expanse of Tsavo West, into the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro at Amboseli Park, or the vast rolling hills of the Masai Mara, the wildlife you’ll witness in Kenya’s parks will be a breathless spectacle that just may change how you look at our great natural world.

Kenya’s Big Cats – lions, leopards, cheetah are all here in great numbers, prowling the brush and stalking the grazers in their impressive numbers. Wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, impalas, and so many others, beautiful in their own right, are integral in the eternal dance between the hunters and their prey.

Then there are the massive giants – rhinos, elephants, hippos and giraffes – grand, majestic and seemingly from another world… yet here they are standing right before you as if in a dream.

You’ll find primates of every sort in the forests, bushes, and trees – dozens of species of monkeys and apes. Troops of olive baboons call from above in the trees and if you head to the sanctuary at Ol Pejeta you’ll find fascinating and intelligent chimpanzees.

The land here supports every kind of wildlife – enter the hyena, jackal, and African wild dog. The hyenas are intense fighters, organized in packs that are led by the females. A pack will even take on a lion in the right circumstances.

Kenya’s birds of prey are seen throughout the country – hawks, eagles, vultures, owls and more. There are dozens of species to be found including the unusual secretary bird. With its long legs, the bird stands 1.3 m (4.2 ft).

Startling in its colour, pink flamingoes can be found in several Kenya parks, especially at Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria. Other delightful birds you won’t easily find elsewhere are the stork, pelican, crane, and the fascinating ostrich, which cannot fly but escapes predators running at a brisk 70km/h (43.5 mph).

The beauty, the excitement, the power and the grace of Kenya’s unforgettable wildlife and birdlife are all found on game drives through our many parks and reserves. At Natural World Kenya Safaris, we’re experts at designing the most thrilling adventures in this world of wonder. Please enjoy our gallery of Kenya’s most beautiful and powerful creatures.
