Enjoy a private game drive in the open bush watching elephant and lion roam free, sip sundowners under a blood orange horizon, and take a romantic dip in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. There’s no better way to celebrate your betrothed than on a Kenya honeymoon with Natural World Kenya Safaris. A locally-owned tour operator, we will take you on an unforgettable honeymoon with an exhilarating safari in one of Kenya’s national parks or reserves followed by a relaxing beach vacation on the Kenyan coast.
From iconic parks like the Masai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo to lesser-known parks like Samburu National Reserve and Lake Naivasha, Kenya offers a breadth of safari experiences for honeymooners. Add on a spectacular hot air balloon ride over the African plains and a laidback stay at one of Kenya’s comfortable Indian Ocean resorts, and you will have experienced a complete Kenya honeymoon package.
Spend four days with your guide in a 4X4 jeep exploring the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Here, you’ll experience unlimited game drives which will introduce you to Africa’s Big Five along with hundreds of other species, including giraffe, cheetah, hyena, gazelle, warthog, impala, klipspringer, and more. The Mara, as it’s known by locals, is home to the Great Migration where thousands of wildebeest and zebra traverse the savannah in search of greener grazing pastures in a jaw-dropping spectacle of survival.
Over the course of your four days in the Mara, you’ll not only see the Great Migration (if your honeymoon is July – October), but you can pay a visit to the Mara River to see hippo and crocodile, spend time relaxing at your lodge, call upon a Maasai village to meet the local villagers, and take an exciting hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara to view the roaming herds and wide open spaces from above.
Here, in the “Land of the Giants,” you’ll experience what it’s like to get close to these tusked gentle giants in Amboseli National Park, the best place in Africa to see elephants. But of course, that’s not all you’ll see. Through the lens of your binoculars or your camera, you’ll have the chance to view cape buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah and even snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, which rises in the distance and serves as a backdrop to all the action.
There’s so much eye candy in Amboseli National Park including, if you wish, the iconic red-cloaked Masai, with whom you’ll interact if you and your partner choose to visit a Masai Village.
After your adventurous safari in the Kenyan bush, fly to Nairobi to hop on a short flight to the historic stone city of Zanzibar. This is the main island of a necklace of small islands, formally known as Unguja. Here, on palm-peppered beaches, you can enjoy your favorite cocktail as you watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
Awarded World Heritage status in 2000, the spice-scented alleys of Stone Town are a delight to lose yourself in, while the slow pace of the islands will have you keeping island time.
At the 4-star Mara Serena Safari Lodge in the Masai Mara National Reserve, you’ll stay in a Masai-style domed hut with views of the Kenyan plains and the Mara River. Wildebeest, giraffe, and elephant are plentiful here, and honeymooners can enjoy a starlit romantic dinner under the African skies with only the sounds of nature in the background.
At Losokwan Luxury Tented Camp in the Lemek Conservancy in Mara North, you and your beloved will experience an authentic African bush experience with upscale amenities. Here, your honeymoon abode will be one of six en-suite tents with furnished balconies, premium linens, free Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, laundry, and a garden. Enjoy a guided bush walk as newlyweds at this luxuriously rustic abode.
Stay in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, while you celebrate your union. Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is nestled in a grove of acacia trees on a natural spring in Amboseli National Park. Your room will display African murals to give it some local color while the pool where you may choose to take a dip is fed by melting snow from nearby Kilimanjaro. While here, contribute to the conservation of indigenous forests by planting an acacia tree to honor your union.
On the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the heart of the Shaba National Reserve in Northern Kenya, Sarova Shaba Game Lodge gives you a choice of 85 luxury rooms with terraces, a swimming pool, and a fishpond. You and your spouse can see elephants and crocodiles on the riverbank and pretend to be Karen Blixen and Denys Finch Hatton in the epic love story, Out of Africa. Indeed, with its flat grasslands dominated by the Shaba Hill volcano, Shaba was the setting for the film adaptation of Out of Africa. It’s hard to imagine a more ideal setting for a honeymoon.
This distinctive lodge affords sweeping views across Tsavo East National Park all the way to Mount Kilimanjaro. Honeymoon in a room that’s built out from the hill on wooden stilts, with wooden floors, canvas walls, and a coconut palm thatch roof. Or, choose a traditional stone walled cottage with walls painted with the red soils of Tsavo. Whichever you and your loved one prefer, you’ll sleep in a hand-made four poster bed in crisp cotton sheets and start the day sipping Kenyan coffee while watching the sunrise over the savanna.

The best time to go gorilla trekking in Uganda is during the dry season (December– February and June - August) when conditions are especially good for trekking to view mountain gorillas. Game drives in the national parks are also fruitful during this time.
Wear neutral colored, lightweight clothing on your Uganda safari. Dress in layers and bring a warm sweater for morning and nighttime game drives. For gorilla trekking, bring a waterproof rain jacket, hiking boots, long socks, hiking pants, bug repellant, and a daypack. A sunhat and gardening gloves are also a good idea; the jungle is dense and thick.
Natural World Kenya Safaris offers Gorilla Trekking Safaris in Uganda with basic accommodations starting at $96 per person, per day, plus the Uganda gorilla trekking permit which costs $700 per person per day (the permits are required, and those fees are non-negotiable.) Costs increase from there.
Natural World Safaris can provide basic, mid-range, and luxury trekking safaris and is eager to work with almost any budget.
Suggested tips range from $10 to $20 per person per day for a private guide and the same amount for your driver if that is a different person than your guide.
If you are on a guided safari or gorilla trek in Uganda, your chances of encountering problems are minimal. However, it is always a good idea to take precautions on your safari, particularly when traveling through urban areas or in regions close to the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The trek to spot gorillas can be strenuous. It could take anywhere from two to eight hours to find and observe the gorillas, depending on the time of year. Be prepared to hike for multiple hours through uneven terrain at high altitude. It is advisable to train before any gorilla trekking trip by walking uphill, or better yet, by taking day hikes.
When it comes to wildlife viewing, there are never any guarantees. There are no fences in the parks in Uganda and the gorillas are free to roam. However, our expert guides and gorilla trackers have years of experience taking guests to see these magnificent creatures. They know their favorite spots to congregate and work closely with park officials each day to provide the best possible chance of seeing gorillas in the wild.
Most mountain gorillas in Uganda live at between 4,900 to 7,500 feet. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the country’s mountain gorillas, has a high point of 8,550ft.
The best time to go on a gorilla trek in Rwanda is during the dry season (June - September) when conditions are best for trekking to view the country’s highlight: the fascinating mountain gorillas.
Wear neutral colored, lightweight clothing on your Rwanda gorilla trek. Dress in layers and don’t forget a sweater for chilly morning and nighttime game drives. For gorilla trekking, bring a waterproof rain jacket, broken-in hiking boots, long socks, hiking pants, bug repellant, and a daypack. A sun visor and protective gloves – such as gardening gloves - are also useful.
Natural World Kenya Safaris offers Gorilla Trekking Safaris in Rwanda with basic accommodations starting at $720 per person, per day, plus the Rwanda gorilla trekking permit which costs $1,500 per person per day (the permits are required, and those fees are non-negotiable.) Costs increase from there.

Rwanda is one of the safest countries in Africa, particularly if you are on a guided safari or gorilla trek. Your chances of encountering problems are minimal. However, it is always a good idea to take precautions on your safari, particularly when traveling through urban areas. Cross-border travel into the Democratic Republic of the Congo or Burundi is not safe, however, so steer clear of this.
