Ashnil Aruba lodge

Named after the dam it is situated on, the Ashnil Aruba Lodge offers guests a tranquil setting in which to relax from and explore the wildlife-rich Tsavo East National Park. The lodge features a combination of rooms and tents carefully spaced out fitted with modern conveniences and minimalistic yet classic furnishings and decor. A large dining area is located in the main building with views over the Aruba dam, making mealtimes an exciting opportunity to spot any wildlife that may come down to the water to drink. A leisurely five-hour drive from Nairobi and two hours from Mombasa, the Ashnil Aruba Lodge is located in Tsavo East National Park, on the banks of the Voi River and commands stunning views over the Aruba dam. The large reservoir lures numerous animals and birds throughout the day, offering visitors the chance to witness incredible wildlife moments in a picturesque setting. Guests can enjoy the local cultural center present at the lodge and learn about the region and communities that reside there.

The flatness of the land makes it a wonderful locale for plains game and favorites such as giraffe, zebra, lesser kudu and more. Most notably are the famous Tsavo lions, a pride whose males often lack their manes. Other “Big Five” animals include the leopard and elephants who tend to roll around in termite mounds, walking away covered in dirt, earning them the name, the dusty-red elephants of Tsavo. Bird watching is beyond brilliant with the permanent water source that is Aruba dam creating a thriving habitat for the prolific birdlife that exists here.
