Overflowing with flavor, the chef creates dishes with traditional Swahili dishes and international blends served to guests, with an opportunity for guests to experience private cooking classes too. Find an inviting swimming pool nestled among walled flower beds and palm trees.

Guests can indulge in a mindful moment of guided yoga either in the gardens or on the pristine beach, or enjoy a massage treatment of their choice during their stay. There are day beds, hammocks, and sitting areas dotted around the property. Accommodation options range from single rooms to the opportunity to take over the entire house. A one-hour flight from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta or Wilson Airports will see guests arrive at Manda Airport. From here, a short ferry ride will bring you to the Banana House & Wellness Centre.

There is an array of accommodation options to pick from at Banana House & Wellness Centre, from Single Rooms to Family Suites and high-end Penthouses. Swahili-style decor and design are depicted in the rooms. The Double Rooms can accommodate three guests, with a king-size bed and a single bed. 

Each room has access to a small sitting and dining area. The Family Room comprises two rooms that are interconnected, with double beds and a bathroom in each. The verandah is large and has direct access to the swimming pool and garden area. The Twin Room has two single beds and is en-suite, while the Garden View Room has a double bed and garden views, with a small sitting and dining area.

The Wellness Penthouse Suite comprises two en-suite double rooms that open up to the glorious outside. There is an inviting sun terrace where guests can soak up the African sun with a beverage of choice in hand. The Banana Penthouse Suite is nearly 1615 sq feet in size, beautifully appointed under a Makuti thatched roof, offering breathtaking views over the sea and garden. The Sweet Penthouse is a cozy option for views of early sunrises or beautiful dusk settings, with a large Swahili bed the perfect place to rest for the night. 

The Banana House & Wellness Centre also has more economic Double and Single Standard Rooms. All rooms have wonderful en-suite bathrooms and have a fan, safe for guests to store their valuables, and room service.

There are several water activities that guests can enjoy while staying at the Banana House which includes snorkeling and other fun water adventures such as a Dhow sunset cruise, swimming in the mangroves, deep-sea fishing, and learning how to sail. 

On land, guests can learn how to create delicious Swahili dishes with cooking classes, they can explore Lamu, take a lazy walk on Shela dunes, and have fun with a donkey ride. Visitors can enjoy a visit to Lamu’s Old Town to discover the traditions and culture of the region.
