The Karen Blixen Camp is located inside the Masai Mara Game Reserve in the Mara North Conservancy, with flights connecting this safari region to Nairobi’s Wilson Area. The fight from Wilson is approximately 45 minutes while driving between the two will take around five hours.
The 22 large, simple luxury canvas tents at Karen Blixen Camp are positioned on a raised deck. There you can find a comfortable sunbed positioned on the outdoor deck, that overlooks the wilderness and river, with a chance to spot wildlife coming to drink or passing lazily by.
The bedding can be made up as a Double Bed or Twin Bed, and each tent is solar-powered, promoting the eco-friendly environment Karen Blixen Camp is known to uphold. There is WiFi in the tents and a safe for guests to store their valuables. There is an en-suite bathroom and the exciting addition of an outdoor shower…private, yet offering a unique experience of showering under the stars.
With over 7000 acres of magnificent wilderness to traverse, early morning and late afternoon game drives are a highlight of staying in this region. Home to rare species such as the Wild Dog, sightings are incredible when staying at Karen Blixen Camp. Big cats are often spotted so guests can enjoy the opportunity of seeing cheetah and the elusive leopard when visiting Leopard Gorge.
Guides bush walks are offered to guests and within the camp nature walks can be enjoyed. View the vast wilderness and incredible wildlife from above when embarking on a hot air balloon ride and bird watchers can look out for over 500 species of birdlife.
