Maneaters Camp

Maneaters Camp

Located between Kenya’s popular National Parks of Tsavo East and Tsavo West lies the Man Eaters Camp. Famously named after the two lions said to have killed around 135 railway construction workers in 1898, on the exact site where the Camp stands today. Built with classic African materials of dark and light wood, stone flooring and thatch roofing, the Maneaters Camp offers a modest safari stay in one of Kenya’s key safari regions.

The Tsavo River restaurant is of fair size, with individual tables set out for mealtimes. Wicker chairs with soft cushions are arranged next to the Simba Mbili bar, with all-around comfort for guests in mind. There is a crystal clear rock swimming pool with a poolside bar next to it. There is a small gift shop and spa treatments on offer for those looking for a little pampering during their stay. Guests can also gather around a fire pit at night, chatting about the day’s adventure in the wilderness.

Location

Maneaters Camp is located in the heart of Kenya’s Southeast safari region, six miles from Tsavo East National Park and just one mile from Tsavo West National Park. The main Nairobi/Mombasa highway is located half a mile away, so guests driving from Nairobi will have a journey of around six hours.

Guests should consider flying into Tsavo Airstrip from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, a 30-minute flight followed by a short transfer to the Camp. If guests are considering taking the Mandraka Train, the station is only a few miles from the Camp.
