Sentrim Tsavo Camp

Sentrim Tsavo Camp

Sentrim Tsavo East lies in the south east of the Tsavo East National Park, arguably Kenya’s largest park and one of the oldest. The lodge is humble and rustic, inspired by the designs of olden day pioneer camps, with a relaxed atmosphere that carries through from the main tent to the individual tented rooms. A wonderful viewing deck is located around the main area, marking the ideal spot to watch animals gathering at a nearby watering hole.

The tented accommodation is spread out and set privately deep in the bush with elevated decks complete with chair and table.

The camp is fenced allowing guests to view larger animals such as elephants, at a safe distance and guests can cool down in the camp’s swimming pool which offers plenty of seating and space. Dining takes place in a communal tent-style structure, with canvas walls and reeded roof, and meals are served buffet-style or a la carte. A variety of activities can be arranged by the lodge, from guided nature walks to Masai cultural village visits and talks.

Game Viewing / Activities

Game viewing in Tsavo East National Park is incredible, with grassy plains teeming with permanent wildlife. Most famous of the park’s animals are the elephants seemingly shrouded in a red dusty hue due to them frolicking on termite mounds and numerous plains game such as impala, dikdiks and topis. Wildlife sightings are good throughout the year, with winter a peak viewing time.

Qualified guides take their guests along set roads and follow spoor and smell to find animals, a note that no off-roading is allowed. The open savannahs make for incredible wildlife showdowns, with cheetahs seen chasing prey or lions stalking a warthog. Lazy lions seem unphased by the dust created by the 4×4 vehicles conducting game drives which can take place throughout the day. Special areas are highlighted for the all-important sundowner stop, after which guests return to the lodge with safari stories to share.
