A safari lodge with a difference, The Ark Lodge can be found in the Aberdare National Park located in central Kenya and is one of the original lodges in the region. Its unique design resembles Noah’s Ark and is situated with views over a floodlit waterhole meaning game viewing is literally on your doorstep from the moment you arrive. Guests get to choose between relaxing in lounges and on deck located on three decks, each offering great wildlife viewing with a bunker-style viewing area that will enhance your game viewing opportunities.
The wooden walls and ceiling of the restaurant forms a cozy setting for guests to enjoy breakfast and dinner, while lunch is served at the Aberdare Country Club where fresh ingredients from the local club garden are used to create mouthwatering dishes. Guests can relax in the comfortable library or browse the small gift shop. Activities offered at The Ark include fishing and walks to the breathtaking waterfalls of the Moorlands.

The Ark Lodge is located in the heart of the Aberdare National Park which is situated east of the Great Rift Valley. The drive from Nairobi takes around four hours, the lodge lying 95 miles from the capital city and 55 miles from the town of Nakuru. The Ark is set in front of a large, floodlit waterhole and is surrounded by plains rich in wildlife.

Primary game viewing for guests staying at the Ark Lodge can be enjoyed from any of the wildlife-viewing decks or the ground-level bunker that the Ark comprises. A plethora of animals make their way to the large and floodlit waterhole, from hyena to waterbuck, the elusive leopard to herds of elephants gathering at twilight to drink.
Game drives in enclosed 4×4 safari vehicles can be conducted by the visitors’ ground handlers who will share the savannahs and forested terrain with their guests.
