Ol Pejeta Conservancy, originally a cattle farm, is a wildlife non-profit conservancy destination. Home to open savannah, marshlands, and the “big five”. Nearby is the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary where visitors can gain an understanding of the rehabilitation methods used to help the fascinating animals
Accommodation options vary from classic, luxury lodges to modest camping experiences. Accommodations are located both within and outside the conservancy. Accommodation choices within the conservancy and those situated near the gates of Ol Pejeta Conservancy offer a range of safari package prices, typically ranging from approximately USD200 to USD800 per person sharing, per night. These packages encompass safari experiences and may cover selected or all meals based on the guests’ accommodations.

Located in one of Kenya’s treasured destinations, Ol Pejeta, the Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp is set on extensive grounds with stone walkways connecting public areas to tranquil tents, the surrounding wildlife in excitedly close proximity. Meals are enjoyed in a spacious “Rhino Room” dining area, a wide choice of buffet-style creations on offer, while the Water Hole Bar will quench your thirst after a wonderful day on safari.

Porini Rhino Camp is a small eco-camp that offers simple comfort in an area known to home Kenya’s largest black rhino sanctuary. The location is intimate and secluded, lying on the banks of a seasonal river. The 7 Luxury Tents privately located within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy are solar-powered, keeping in line with the eco-friendly intention of the Camp.
The main tent is a large, canvas room featuring a dining area and small sitting section. The best time to go gorilla trekking in Uganda is during the dry season (December– February and June - August) when conditions are especially good for trekking to view mountain gorillas. Game drives in the national parks are also fruitful during this time.
Wear neutral colored, lightweight clothing on your Uganda safari. Dress in layers and bring a warm sweater for morning and nighttime game drives. For gorilla trekking, bring a waterproof rain jacket, hiking boots, long socks, hiking pants, bug repellant, and a daypack. A sunhat and gardening gloves are also a good idea; the jungle is dense and thick.

Be prepared to hike for multiple hours through uneven terrain at high altitude. It is advisable to train before any gorilla trekking trip by walking uphill, or better yet, by taking day hikes.
When it comes to wildlife viewing, there are never any guarantees. There are no fences in the parks in Uganda and the gorillas are free to roam. However, our expert guides and gorilla trackers have years of experience taking guests to see these magnificent creatures. They know their favorite spots to congregate and work closely with park officials each day to provide the best possible chance of seeing gorillas in the wild.
Most mountain gorillas in Uganda live at between 4,900 to 7,500 feet. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the country’s mountain gorillas, has a high point of 8,550ft.
