A honeymoon in Tanzania offers the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation with the chance to see the “Big Five” (elephant, leopard, buffalo, lion, and rhinoceros) on safari while also enjoying some of the best beaches in the world.
Celebrate your union on a Tanzania honeymoon with Natural World Kenya Safaris. A locally-owned tour operator, we offer several Tanzania honeymoon packages. Enjoy a breathtaking safari in one of Tanzania’s national parks or reserves followed by a relaxing beach vacation on the Indian Ocean with a stay in exotic Zanzibar.
From popular parks like Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area to hidden gems like Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park, and Arusha National Park, Tanzania offers something for everyone.
The annual Wildebeest Migration, which starts in the Serengeti, will stir your senses, and feed your soul. Combine this with a laidback stay on the charming island of Zanzibar off the pristine Indian Ocean coastline and you will have experienced a complete Tanzania and Zanzibar honeymoon package.
Descend into the largest volcanic caldera on earth at Ngorongoro Crater, home to over 25,000 animals. Between game drives, relax at the lodge, watch the animals from your private room, and enjoy each other’s company!
From here, you’ll move on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world’s largest extinct volcano. On your last night in Tanzania at Tarangire National Park you will keep company with elephants, as this is home to a large concentration of the gentle giants. Finally, it’s back to Kenya for two nights in Amboseli as you say goodbye to East Africa with views of Kilimanjaro in the distance.

After your adventurous Tanzania safari, fly to Nairobi to hop a short flight to the historic stone city of Zanzibar. This is the main island of a necklace of small islands, formally known as Unguja. Relax on the beach and sip your favorite cocktail as you watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean. Awarded World Heritage status in 2000, the spice-scented streets of Stone Town are an exotic escape and feel worlds away from the fast pace of everyday life back home.
There are many romantic accommodation options throughout Tanzania. Some are honeymoon destinations themselves and others are located on a private game reserve where wildlife can be spotted right from your room.
The best time to go gorilla trekking in Uganda is during the dry season (December– February and June - August) when conditions are especially good for trekking to view mountain gorillas. Game drives in the national parks are also fruitful during this time.
Wear neutral colored, lightweight clothing on your Uganda safari. Dress in layers and bring a warm sweater for morning and nighttime game drives. For gorilla trekking, bring a waterproof rain jacket, hiking boots, long socks, hiking pants, bug repellant, and a daypack. A sunhat and gardening gloves are also a good idea; the jungle is dense and thick.
Natural World Kenya Safaris offers Gorilla Trekking Safaris in Uganda with basic accommodations starting at $96 per person, per day, plus the Uganda gorilla trekking permit which costs $700 per person per day (the permits are required, and those fees are non-negotiable.) Costs increase from there.
Natural World Safaris can provide basic, mid-range, and luxury trekking safaris and is eager to work with almost any budget.
Suggested tips range from $10 to $20 per person per day for a private guide and the same amount for your driver if that is a different person than your guide.
If you are on a guided safari or gorilla trek in Uganda, your chances of encountering problems are minimal. However, it is always a good idea to take precautions on your safari, particularly when traveling through urban areas or in regions close to the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The trek to spot gorillas can be strenuous. It could take anywhere from two to eight hours to find and observe the gorillas, depending on the time of year. Be prepared to hike for multiple hours through uneven terrain at high altitude. It is advisable to train before any gorilla trekking trip by walking uphill, or better yet, by taking day hikes.
When it comes to wildlife viewing, there are never any guarantees. There are no fences in the parks in Uganda and the gorillas are free to roam. However, our expert guides and gorilla trackers have years of experience taking guests to see these magnificent creatures. They know their favorite spots to congregate and work closely with park officials each day to provide the best possible chance of seeing gorillas in the wild.
Most mountain gorillas in Uganda live at between 4,900 to 7,500 feet. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the country’s mountain gorillas, has a high point of 8,550ft.
