Sandie’s Baobab Beach Hotel gets its name after the iconic Baobab trees found scattered around the resort grounds, an oasis located in an idyllic setting. The main area contains the Beach Gallery restaurant where buffet-style breakfast, lunches and dinner is served, cuisine a good mix of international and mediterranean fare. The Pool Bar serves snacks and a selection of beverages during the day, the swimming pool an idyllic central feature for guests to enjoy and coll off during the day. There is direct access to the beach and all facilities face the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, and these include an amphitheater where local entertainment takes place showcasing musicians, dancers and even acrobats. Guests can choose from an array of beauty treatments and massages at the Mvua African Rain Spa, a wonderful way to unwind in breathtaking settings.

Sandie’s Baobab Beach Hotel is located on Zanzibar’s Nyungwe Beach. Guests can choose to take a two-hour ferry from Dar es Salaam or a 20-minute flight from Dar, and then enjoy an interesting 90 minute road transfer to the Hotel. Flights may originate from international destinations as well as domestic or regional airports and airstrips.
There is a wonderful menu of room-types to choose from which include 20 Baobab Garden Rooms, 19 Garden Rooms, 20 Garden Cottages, 14 Garden Jnr Suites, 22 Superior Room, and 20 Beach Junior Suites. The latter boasts lateral sea views while all rooms are decorated in light colors, crisp linens and mosquito nets over the beds. The walls display local art, rich colors contrasting the neutral colors of the bedding, ceiling and floor. There is Wifli in the rooms (at a cost), a small desk and chair, and outdoor seating. Each room is en-suite with a toilet, vanity and shower.
Guests staying at Sandie’s Baobab Beach Hotel can enjoy activities that include scuba diving, snorkeling and boat rides to nearby islands. Guests can enjoy an excursion to Jozani Forest or Prison Island or spend time in Nungwi Village or a day’s outing to Stonetown. Walks on the beach, relaxing by the pool or simply sunning on the beach…there is so much and so little to do.
