Located on Tarangire National Park’s western border stands the Sangaiwe Tented Lodge, situated just outside the Sangaiwe Gate entrance to the Park. Views are captivating as you sit in either the main tented area or on your private verandah, overlooking Lake Burungi. Guests can relax next to the sparkling swimming pool and spend time indoors around the bar or unwinding in the small lounge area.
There is a central dining area that is spacious, with thatched roofing. It is open on the sides, with a central fireplace that separates it from a comfortable sitting area. The decor is African-themed depicting local art displayed on light yellow walls. There is a small bar set up and the food is set up buffet-style for guests to indulge in at their leisure during meal times.
The Sangaiwe Tented Lodge is located just outside the Sangaiwe Gate of Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park. Guests will enjoy a journey of two hours by road from Arusha or they can fly into Lake Manyara airstrip, a 40-minute flight from Arusha, and then embark on a 40-mile drive to Sangaiwe Tented Lodge.
At Sangaiwe Tented Lodge, there are 22 luxury tents all set up on raised platforms and boasting a private verandah with commanding views of the surrounding wilderness. There are two Family Tents which are interconnected as well as a two-bedroom Family Cottage. Standard tents are set up as King Bedded or Twin Bedded. Beds are covered with a mosquito net and the linen beiges, whites and a colorful throw. There are round, grass rugs on the wooden floors and the tents have a small sitting area with a writing desk and chair. All bathrooms are en-suite with a shower, toilet and vanity.
Game drives take place in 4×4 vehicles early in the morning and evenings where guests will spend several hours enjoying the wonderful wildlife and wilderness around them. Witness the Big Five and many more at play. Guests can experience the cultural wonder of the Maasai tribes when visiting a local, authentic Maasai village. The Ngorongoro Crater is two hours away with Lake Manyara and the Matete Picnic Site a mere four miles from Sangaiwe Tented Lodge.
