Selous Ngalawa Camp

Selous Ngalawa Lodge offers visitors a mid-range accommodation and safari option nestled among leafy trees and pure wilderness, located near the Mtemere Gate of the Nyerere National Park. It prides itself on being one of the original camps set up along the Rufiji River and therefore offers incredible views over magnificent wilderness. The canvas tents are comfortable and afford guests the chance to watch animals day or night from their small deck. 


Meals thoughtfully created, are served in the main dining area which also has a small sitting area and a friendly bar that overlooks the river. When it comes to activities, besides incredible safari game drives, guests can enjoy activities such as tiger fishing excursions, nature walks and boat safaris, as well as cultural experience at nearby Mloka Village.

Location

The Selous Ngalawa Lodge is located on the boundary of the Nyerere National Park, very close to the Mtemere Gate. Guests will fly from Dar es Salaam to the Mtemere airstrip which will take approximately 45 minutes. A short 10 minute safari drive will have guests ready to check into Selous Ngalawa. Guests who choose to drive from Dar es Salaam will have a journey of five to six hours.

Rooms / Tents

Accommodation at Selous Ngalawa comprises eight elevated safari tents with private decks, all overlooking the Rufiji River and wild surroundings. Bedding can be set up as King size or Twin beds, all covered by mosquito netting. Tents are beige and green in color, with neat curtains covering the plastic windows. There is a fan in the tents and a small sitting area set up out on the deck. All tents are en-suite and have a toilet, vanity and shower.

Early morning and late afternoon 4×4 game drives are a thrilling way for guests to explore the wonders of the Nyerere National Park. Qualified guides will take guests on a guided walk and there is the chance to witness over 400 species of bird. Embark on a boat safari with a chance to watch hippos and crocodiles lazing nearby. Tiger fishing and a cultural tour of nearby Mloka Village.
