FLY ZANZIBAR TO NYERERE PARK FOR 3 DAY SAFARI
Three Action-Packed Days – Walking & Boating Safaris

Private Tour

Starts Zanzibar/Ends Zanzibar – We’ll pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to nearby Abeid Karume International Airport for your morning flight to Arusha.

Enjoy this amazing safari in a customized open-sided Natural World 4×4 Safari Jeep that includes: Cooler Box, long-range high-frequency radio, Power Outlets AC 230V, First Aid Kit, and above all, a professional multi-lingual safari guide who will ensure you have an unforgettable safari experience.

You’ve heard about Tanzania’s biggest reserve, Nyerere National Park, and want to see for yourself these immense fields and forests teeming with wildlife.

So just how large is this new park, carved out from the vast Selous Game Reserve? Well, it’s bigger than the Masai Mara and even bigger than the Serengeti, stretching out to 30,983 sq km (11,928 sq mi). That’s more land area than dozens of countries!

And filling the park’s broad, beautiful spaces are an unheard-of number of animals: 100,000 wildebeests, 145,000 buffalos, and 250,000 impalas. Plus, huge populations of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. The variety and quantity of big and small game here simply dwarfs other parks.

But what you won’t find in Nyerere are hordes of other safari-goers as the park is still fairly unknown. And the wildlife is not accustomed to human presence.

Everything Is Larger in Nyerere

Even its rivers – the park’s primary waterway, the Rufiji River, is the largest in the country, and the source of a network of lakes and marshes throughout the park.

During the dry season from June through October, it is also the lifeblood for the park’s uncountable wildlife who come to the river to drink. We’ll visit the river to watch the zebras, giraffes, hartebeest, impala, elephants, monkeys and more quench their thirst at the banks of the Rufiji.

The river is also home to great numbers of crocodiles and a fantastic population of hippos, said to be around 40,000.

Walking and Boating Safaris

Now that you have a picture of Nyerere’s many wildlife possibilities, here are several more: Our 3-Day safari includes a walking safari with a native bushman guide to show you the flora and fauna close-up on a relaxed hike, a truly sensory experience!

We will also visit a Maasai village to meet and learn about these ancient pastoral people.

You’ll see lots of the park from your 4 x 4 safari Jeep, but for another perspective, nothing is quite as exciting as a boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River for getting near the aquatic life and spotting land animals as well.

It’s one of the few places in Africa where you can have this experience. During this sunset water cruise, you should spot hippos, and monkeys moving through the trees on the banks of the river. We’ll glide past birdlife such as heron, kingfisher, eagle, and bee-eaters.

It’s An Easy Trip To The Park

One of the most fun aspects of taking a safari like this is the ease of getting there – just a one-hour flight from the beaches of Zanzibar to an airstrip near the park.  We’ll pick you up from your hotel and bring you to the airport for your scenic morning flight.

Landing near Nyerere Park, your Natural World Kenya Safaris driver/guide will be there with a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Just imagine: an hour ago you were at one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, now you’re about to step into one of the world’s most beautiful and exciting parks. Just Contact us and we’ll start planning your Nyerere safari.

Zanzibar – Nyerere Park/Selous Game Reserve

1 Hour Flight

You’ve seen it from the air, now you’ll have many opportunities to get a closer look at this sprawling game park. But first, your Natural World Kenya Safaris driver/guide will greet you and bring you to a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. We’ll drive to the park and get you settled at your accommodation.

This is going to be a very busy and action-filled day starting with a guided walking safari. Your guide, a local bushman has known these fields, hills, and forests his entire life. Who better to bring you close-up to the plants and wildlife as you take a measured walking tour of the park?

Besides the small game, you may also spot elephant, buffalo, even lion, and cheetah.

Next up, we’ll visit a local Maasai village, meet some of the people and learn, close-up about their traditional way of life. You may even get to partake in their famous jumping dance!

We’ll continue this special day with another unique experience – a sunset boating safari on the Rufiji River. From this vantage point, we should be able to spot crocodiles and hippos as we glide by in the setting afternoon sun.

Along the river’s banks also look for giraffe, waterbuck, warthog, and impala taking their refreshment. And up in the trees, you are sure to spot baboons, blue and black & white Colobus monkeys.

What an incredible first day on safari!

We will spend the evening at our Nyerere lodge or tented camp.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today we will see the park from our 4 x 4 safari Jeep platform as we take multiple game drives over the fields, past lakes, marshes, and through the forests.

We’ll enjoy breakfast and set out to look for some of Nyerere’s over 4,000 lions and hundreds of leopards and cheetahs.

The park is also blessed with the largest density of elephants in Africa and half of all in Tanzania. The numbers in the park are increasing so we should be able to spot them on our game drives.

And of course, Nyerere thrives with buffalo, rhino, antelope, and the rare African wild dog, which lives here in great numbers.

We will spend our second evening at our Nyerere lodge or tented camp.

Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch

It’s our final safari morning so let’s enjoy the day’s early light upon the fields and woodlands all around us. We may even spot some wildlife emerging into the day as we enjoy our breakfast.

Then, we’re off to the airstrip for our 8:40 am flight back to Zanzibar. You’ll bid your driver/guide farewell and lift off for the scenic flight, touching down at 9:30 am.

Stepping from your light aircraft a Natural World Kenya Safaris driver will be there to greet you and drive you back to your hotel.

The days went by too fast, didn’t they? We wanted to fill up your safari adventure with as much fun and activity as possible. We hope we succeeded and you had a truly memorable experience.
