It’s a quick trip from your beach resort to these nearby parks for 2 fun days of wildlife discoveries. Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a privately-owned reserve that offers visitors over 50 species of large mammals like lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra. Plus, waterbuck, gazelle, impala, dik-dik and 300 species of birds.
Tsavo East National Park is immense with a rustic, craggy charm. You can find Africa’s “big five” here along with hundreds of other species. This is the home of the famous Tsavo lions – almost 700 of them! The other big cats are here as well as duiker, eland, hyena, hartebeest, jackal, mongoose and dozens more.
On day 1 we’ll start early to give you plenty of viewing time at the parks. Natural World Kenya Safaris will pick you up at your Diani Beach/South Coast area resort and proceed over the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway arriving at Tsavo East in about 3 hours.
Coming upon the rugged, red soil plains of Tsavo is your signal you’ve arrived at Kenya’s largest national park.

The reservoirs created by these dams – one natural, one manmade – are perfect viewing sites for the hundreds of animals who come here for their sustenance. Get ready for the sight of elephant herds and other wildlife at these life-giving watering holes.

Taita Hills

Later in the afternoon we will cross from Tsavo East to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. The green hills of Taita contrast with the dry, red soil of Tsavo. So too, is Taita’s relatively small size compared with the immense sprawl of Tsavo.
But this more compact size works to our advantage. The rangers usually know where the bigger animals are in the reserve and guide us accordingly. It’s not unusual to spot dozens of species during the game drives here. Lions and elephants are commonly spotted in the reserve.
You’ll stay overnight at Taita Hills, with your choice of accommodation at the Sarova Taita Hills Safari Resort or the Salt Lick Safari Lodge.
Then on day 2 it’s an early rise and shine to witness the forest and plains come alive with their wild populations reaching into the new day. After this early morning drive, you’ll return to your lodge for a satisfying safari breakfast. Then enjoy another game drive in this beautiful and diverse reserve before heading back to your resort at Diani.
All-Inclusive. Your 2-Day Tsavo East & Taita Hills safari includes all ground transportation, accommodation at a choice of three lodges, park entrance fees, game drives, all meals and pickup/drop off at your Diani/ South Coast location.
However… please know that whatever level of accommodation you choose, your actual safari adventure with us will always be at our highest standards.
Transportation between parks and game viewing will be in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep – this vehicle is the safari standard with its higher seating and rugged all-wheel drive.
