4 Days Zanzibar to Masai Mara flight safari

After breakfast at your hotel, your driver will drive you to Wilson Airport for your flight to the Masai Mara. Your one-hour flight will lift off at 10:30 am for a scenic trip over Kenya’s savannahs, lit by the soft morning light. In no time you’ll land at an airstrip just outside the park where your Natural World Kenya Safaris driver/guide will be waiting with a private open-sided 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

It’s a quick trip to the reserve and your Mara safari lodge or tented camp. Lunch follows and then we’ll begin the first of many game drives over the next three days.

Of course, we’ll be tracking for lion, leopard, and cheetah but don’t forget, all of the “Big Five” inhabit this park so keep an eye out for buffalo, rhino, and elephant.

The Mara is said to harbor the densest concentration of wildlife in the region so you will be treated to all manner of antelope, gazelle, giraffe, and smaller species like dik-dik, fox, aardwolf, mongoose, baboon, monkey, and warthog.

Toward evening we’ll head back to our Mara accommodation for dinner, relaxation and to recount the events and sightings of the day.

Full Day at the Masai Mara

We’re on safari so let’s rise with the birds and enjoy the morning light on these golden savannahs, complemented with endless, signature acacia trees.

The day is yours, so discuss with your driver/guide what areas you would like to explore. He’s the expert and knows where any particular wildlife is likely to be found.

If you’re here during the Great Migration (July – October), he will likely suggest a visit or even a picnic down by the Mara River. This is the site of an unbelievable influx of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle flooding into the park from the neighboring Serengeti on their annual migration route.

Of course, waiting for these thousands of grazers are the predators – crocodiles in the river and all the big cats throughout the park. This can be a scene of extraordinary drama as each species plays out its role as designed by nature.

For an unforgettable experience of the migration and the park, we offer an optional early morning hot air balloon safari. As the park lights up you’ll rise above the fields and great trains of wildebeests below for thrilling views of the Mara. Not to be missed!

Here’s another opportunity, a cultural moment to enjoy and enrich your safari: take advantage of our optional visit to a local village to meet the Maasai people. Learn about their pastoral lives and their culture; perhaps purchase one of their brightly beaded handicrafts.

Toward evening look for one of the Mara’s spectacular sunsets as we turn and head back to our safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and our final night.

Masai Mara – Nairobi – Zanzibar

(One Hour Flight to Nairobi & 90 Minute Flight to Zanzibar ).

It’s our final day on safari, so let’s rise with the sun and the wildlife to appreciate nature’s many wonders before us (Note: no game viewing drive this last day morning if staying inside the reserve)

We’ll enjoy a relaxed safari breakfast back at our lodge or tented camp and dwell on all that we’ve seen over the past three days.

Transfer time to the Airstrip shall depend on the distance from your Lodge / Camp to your  Masai Mara Airstrip and flight time.

Later transfer to your Masai Mara Airstrip for your flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi.

We should touch down at Nairobi’s Wilson Airport at 12:15 pm. One of our drivers will greet you and transfer you to the international airport.

You’ll take off at 19:15 hrs. (7:15 pm) for the 90-minute hop back to Zanzibar.

Back at Zanzibar’s Abeid Karume International Airport, you’ll be met by a Natural World Kenya Safaris driver who will bring you back to our hotel.
