Get ready for safaris galore on this extensive tour of the Great Rift Valley lakes. The variety of wildlife found in these parks is easily matched by the great diversity of colorful birdlife flocking to the lakes. You’ll be looking for buffalo, lion, rhino, crocodile, and warthog but also owls, hornbills, and great swaths of fuchsia flamingoes! The scenery is as rich as the wildlife and you’ll explore it by 4 x 4 Jeep, boat, foot, and bicycle. This is a short but dense safari that needs no long-term reservations. Just contact Natural World Kenya Safaris and we’ll have you on your African safari right away.

Lake Nakuru National Park: Due to some progressive natural factors like increasing water levels , the flamingo numbers have been reducing  but the park itself remains  stunning – one of Kenya’s finest. Great rocky escarpments tower over acacia forest, waterfalls, wooded hills and euphorbia trees dot the lake.

The few quantity of  flamingos is accompanied by other birdlife – pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, ostriches, storks as well as herons and eagles. The scene here is bountiful, busy and full of color.

But that’s only the beginning of what this special park has to offer because the wildlife viewing here is easy and accessible. Lake Nakuru is known for hosting some endangered but beautiful species. You’re sure to see rare Rothschild’s Giraffe along with white rhino, especially along the lakeshore.

The park is also sanctuary to one of Kenya’s largest populations of black rhino.

Set your sights on more dazzling flamingoes, plus hot springs and dramatic geysers at Lake Bogoria National Reserve. This alkaline lake hosts a myriad of birdlife but also wildlife such as cheetah, baboon, warthog, hyena, impala and dik-dik. Nearby Lake Baringo is rocky and wild, featuring hundreds of bird species, plus crocs and hippos.

Finally, Lake Naivasha and its neighboring attractions offer us new kinds of safaris with which to explore the wildlife. Take a sailing safari and glide past the hippos.

NAIROBI – LAKE NAKURU (160km, Approx – 3 hours)

Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner

07:30 hrs. – Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence or Nairobi airport.

We’ll head out in our private 4 x 4 Jeep for Lake Nakuru National Park, taking rest stops along the way to stretch and appreciate views of the Great Rift Valley.

Lake Nakuru dazzles with its birdlife but also its scenic beauty. You’ll find storks, herons, and eagles in this bountiful spot and one of Kenya’s largest populations of black rhinos.

We’ll take game and bird watching drives around the lake, through the forest and over the woodland. Look for the big predators like lion, leopard, and cheetah, but also smaller wildlife in the forests like hyena, waterbuck, olive baboon, and colobus monkey.

Please note that due to some progressive natural factors like increasing water levels , the flamingo numbers have been reducing  but the park itself remains  stunning – one of Kenya’s finest. Great rocky escarpments tower over acacia forest, waterfalls, wooded hills and euphorbia trees dot the lake.

Following the rich topography of the park, we’ll also be on the lookout for the rare Rothschilds giraffe, gazelle, jackal, and mongoose. This is a vivid natural environment and you’ll be struck by its density and diversity.

Our first safari night will be here at Lake Nakuru, at your choice of lodge or tented camp.

LAKE NAKURU – BOGORIA – BARINGO

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The park is the perfect spot for a sunrise safari as the voluminous birdlife emerges into the new day. We’ll see the first rays of light touch the lake, bringing with them the early stirrings of the wildlife.

Then we’ll jump into our 4 x 4 Jeep for a scenic trip through the Great Rift Valley to nearby Lakes Bogoria and Baringo.

Lake Bogoria lies in a volcanic region which accounts for its natural geysers and hot springs, located along the banks of the lake. But the single greatest feature of this reserve is the spectacular flocks of bright colorful flamingos adorning its shores.

Neighboring Lake Baringo is a bird haven, enjoy a sailing safari across the lake, the birdwatching is unsurpassed. You’ll be looking for nightjars, Goliath herons, and hornbills amongst its over 400 species of avian life.

You can opt to make a village visit to the Njemps Community Village for $40 per person.

Your second night will be either at Lake Bogoria or Lake Baringo depending on your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

LAKE BARINGO – LAKE NAIVASHA– NAIROBI

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch

We’ve got a very busy day before us, so we’ll depart early for Lake Naivasha.

The Lake Naivasha area is filled with forests, extinct volcanos, waterfalls, and dramatic gorges. It’s a high-altitude, freshwater lake featuring hippos, aquatic, and birdlife.

But there’s plenty of wildlife as well – view buffalo, impala and waterbuck drawn to the lake’s shores.

We’ll have lunch here and enjoy a sail across the lake, taking in the resident hippos.

Then, we’ll take a special trip to nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a beautiful private reserve that is filled with animals, mostly gentle grazers. The Sanctuary’s naturalist will take us on a guided walking safari to view the herds of wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, gazelle and more.

But now it’s time for the easy drive back to Nairobi. Over our 3-day trek you’ve enjoyed many lakes, lots of wildlife and probably thousands of birds, including the always dazzling flamingoes.

We’ll arrive back in Nairobi in the early evening and drop you off at your hotel, residence or the airport.

The sights and sounds of your African safari will be lasting memories you’ll enjoy for years. But when you get the urge to safari again, we hope you’ll contact Natural World Kenya Safaris for your next African adventure. We thank you for your time, your patronage and your trust.
