Take a break from the beach and explore Kenya’s other big attraction – the wildlife! Just a few hours from the coast you can be tracking large and small game on this quick, fun safari. Tsavo East dwarfs all the other parks in size and reputation and is home to Africa’s “Big Five”. Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is home to more than 50 species of mammals. Expect a very busy two days on this short s but exciting safari.

The tour begins at Tsavo East. The game drives here on the broad, vast plains will yield a rich safari experience of buffalo, elephant, giraffe and possibly lion and leopard. We’ll then move on to the Taita Hills Sanctuary whose green hills will contrast with Tsavo’s rugged territory. This smaller reserve offers plenty of wildlife and an abundance of birdlife for you to enjoy.

You’ll stay overnight in either Taita Hills Safari Resort & SPA or  Salt Lick Safari Lodge – your choice. In fact, at Natural World Kenya Safaris, the choice is always yours to enjoy a fun, personal safari experience. And don’t worry if your plans are last minute – we’ll fit you in!

All-Inclusive. Your 2-Day Tsavo East/Taita Hills safari includes park entrance fees, game drives, accommodations and meals. Natural World Kenya Safaris always offers a wide choice of accommodations. Choose from three excellent safari lodges.

Your Guide. For your 2-day journey, you’ll be guided, hosted and looked after by your own experienced driver/guide.

Transportation between parks and game viewing will be in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep – this vehicle is the safari standard with its higher seating and rugged all-wheel drive.

MOMBASA – TSAVO EAST (180 KMS – Approx. 3 hours)

Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

The safari begins with a pickup at your beach hotel or at the Mombasa port. We’ll take the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway, viewing farmlands and Kenya countryside along the way.

As you pass through the gates of Tsavo East National Park, watch for the wildlife on the reserve’s rugged savannah, but especially keep an eye out for the great herds of elephants who like to roll in the red soil here.

We’ll head over to Aruba Dam, a well-known watering hole. This man-made dam on the Voi River is both aesthetically pleasing and an attraction for the wildlife. Its life-giving waters are a big draw for the park’s animals.

The Kanderi swamp area is also a favorite spot for game and, of course, for us to watch that game.

We will cross the park’s vast plains looking to sight eland, impala, giraffe and some of the 500 species of birds found here.

Later in the afternoon we’ll exit the park and head to nearby Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary to begin exploring that beautiful reserve.

Overnight at Taita Hills Safari Resort or Salt Lick Safari lodge.

TAITA HILLS – MOMBASA (230 KMS – Approx. 3 hours)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch

We’ll be up early with the birds to explore this reserve as it comes to life. Because Taita is a small park, it is often easier to spot the wildlife than in the bigger reserves. Besides the larger game of lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah and zebra, we’ll also be looking for zebra, impala, gazelle and smaller creatures like the enchanting dik-dik.

We’ll then head to your lodge for a rich safari breakfast to fortify us for more… game watching!

Finally, it’s time to head back to the coast. We’ll depart for Mombasa and stop for a tasty lunch on the way. Then we’ll bring you back to your resort or hotel in the late afternoon or early evening.
