Along the way, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Kenya’s striking land-forms like the great Rift Valley. If you were to drive this route overland it would take 15 hours, but in about two easy hours you’ll fly right into the Masai Mara. There, a host from your lodge will greet you and your party, ushering you to your accommodations, lunch and the first of many game drives in a 4 x 4 Land Cruiser. The Masai Mara is a vast reserve that holds hundreds of species of wildlife – from lions and leopards to small bat-eared foxes. You’ll be looking for a vast array of predators and even more numbers of grazing herbivores. The population of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle can actually reach into the millions during the migrating season which runs from July to October. Everything about the Mara is pure drama, from its scenic rolling grasslands peppered with distinctive acacia trees to the menacing crocodiles awaiting their prey in the Mara River. Over your 3-day safari you will have many opportunities to observe the forces of nature that have played out over this rich terrain for ages.
