You’ll have plenty of time to take in the sights and wonders of the wilds on this 8-day journey through the best of Kenya. We’ll hop aboard the new Madaraka Express train to picturesque Amboseli National Park, resting at the foot of mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro. Enjoy the steady stream of elephants marching before you and other big game spotting at this very active reserve.

We’ll next venture into the Great Rift Valley where a variety of traditional and non-traditional safaris await. At Lake Naivasha, we’ll embark on a boat safari, gliding by hippos, fish and small game grazing on the shore. Our next safari will be the guided, walking kind, at nearby Crescent Island Sanctuary, past antelope, zebra, giraffe and more. Then we’ll hop aboard some bikes for a most unique safari to Hell’s Gate National Park, where the steam from the geo-thermal activity mixes with the grazing wildlife.

It’s a quick drive to another Rift Valley lake, Lake Nakuru National Park, and you’ll discover many types of exotic birds, including flamingoes who gather on its shores. A special treat – guaranteed sightings of endangered black and white rhinos at the park’s protected sanctuary.

You also have the option of substituting Lake Bogoria National Reserve instead, if you want to see even greater flocks of the brightly-coloured flamingoes.

Then on day 5, we arrive at the Masai Mara National Reserve – perhaps the most fascinating wildlife park in the world. This is a truly dense eco-system, overflowing with wildlife, including the big predators like lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena. Our stay here will stretch over 4 days and you’ll enjoy numerous game drives over the hills and savannahs of this inviting park. It’s a relatively short drive from Emali Station to Amboseli National Park, through deep savannah supporting local farms. Look for Maasai herdsmen in their colourful wraps tending to their cattle.

Amboseli Park is an unmistakable sight resting at the base of Africa’s highest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro.

We’ll have lunch and then set out for an afternoon game drive, on the lookout for the many imposing herds of elephants populating the park, plus other species.

Toward evening, turn to Kilimanjaro and you may get a postcard view of its snowy peak – truly a natural wonder.

Amboseli National Park

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

This full safari day will be filled with game drives, exploring the diversity and rich wildlife of this smaller park. But you can design your day as you choose. Just let your driver/guide know just how much safari and how much relaxation would be the best combination for you.

We’ll start our day early – it’s what we do on safari. What better way to soak up the morning light and see the wildlife in the quickening day?

After breakfast, we’ll jump in our private 4 x 4 and look for elephant, lion, buffalo, and many of the large and small wildlife that inhabit this pretty reserve.

We’ll head back to our accommodation for lunch and perhaps some relaxation time.

Observation Hill is an ideal spot for sighting some of the park’s many elephants, plus hippo and birds such as pelicans and Egyptian goose.

Our second night at the park at your lodge or tented camp

AMBOSELI – LAKE NAIVASHA (340 km – Approx. 6 hrs.)

Let’s get up with the birds for some early morning game viewing and bid farewell to the park and mighty Kilimanjaro.

We’re on our way to the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha.

We should arrive there for lunch and then an afternoon boat safari over the lake, viewing the birdlife, grazing wildlife on the shore, and views of mighty hippos as we sail by.

It’s a bountiful feeling soaking up all that nature has provided here. We’ll stretch our legs with a guided walking tour to Crescent Island Sanctuary to see the zebra, impala, buffalo, giraffe, and others grazing nearby.

The evening is spent at Lake Naivasha at your lodge or tented camp.

What you may do at Lake Naivasha …….

Boat ride, bird watching, nature walks, visit to hells gate

LAKE NAIVASHA – LAKE NAKURU (80km – Approx. 1 hr.)

(You can choose to go to Lake Bogoria instead of Lake Nakuru if you’d like to view the larger flocks of flamingoes there.)

We’ll be up early for a bicycle safari to Hell’s Gate National Park to see its dramatic land formations and easily grazing wildlife.

Lake Nakuru National Park is nearby, and we’ll arrive to take in the lake and its many birds like ostrich, heron, eagle, and even some bright pink flamingoes.

But there’s more than just birds in this unique park so we’ll be looking to spot lion, leopard, warthog, zebra, giraffe, and as a special treat, rare black and white rhinos.

We’ll overnight here at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

What you may see at Lake Nakuru Nationa Park ……….

Flamingo , Makalia water falls, Unique vegetation, Lion. White rhino, Black Rhino, Giraffe, about 450 species of terrestial birds, waterbuck

LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA (300 km – Approx. 6 hrs.)

Let’s get up to watch the sunrise… and hear the birds sing! This is a special time to explore the park. Soon we’ll exit Lake Nakuru and head out for Kenya’s most popular park, Masai Mara National Reserve.

When you arrive at the Mara, take in its gently rolling hills and the iconic acacia trees punctuating the landscape. You’ll know you’ve come to a unique spot in the natural world, one that speaks to the richness of Africa’s scenic wonder and bountiful wildlife.

We’ll enjoy the first of three nights in the park at your safari lodge or tented camp.

FULL OF DAY OF GAME DRIVES AT MASAI MARA

Be prepared for lots of game drives and lots of game viewing! We’ll safari over the fields and plains of the Mara looking for the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino – plus dozens of other species.

The concentration of wildlife here is the densest in the region, with a variety to match – over 90 mammal species.

The number of sightings increases dramatically if you’re here during the Great Migration (July – October) when tens of thousands of gazelle, zebra, and wildebeest flood into the reserve, crossing the Mara River on their yearly quest for food.

Waiting for them are predators of all shapes and sizes. We’ll see some down at the river – crocodiles in their natural habitat, plus the various big cats roaming the hills and plains.

This will be our second night spent here at your Mara accommodation.

Full day at the Masai Mara

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Most folks are lucky to get a day or two at the Mara – you’re spending a total of four – with a second full day of game drives. So, fire up the 4 x 4 and let’s see how much more of the land and the wildlife we can soak up.

We offer several optional activities to enhance your safari experience. Learn more about the local lifestyle and culture with a visit to the nearby Maasai tribespeople. Meet the villagers, see their homes and perhaps pick up a colourful beaded souvenir.

Experience the land in a dramatic new fashion, with an early morning hot air balloon excursion over the park. You’ll see the parade of wildlife from above as the early light paints its colours upon the reserve – unforgettable! Your driver/guide will be happy to make all the arrangements.

Our final safari night will be spent here at your Mara accommodation.

Masai Mara – Nairobi (265km – Approx. 5 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast.

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp, your dedicated driver guide will assist you with the checkout process and proceed to Nairobi – Kenya’s colorful capital city.

On the way, your guide will point out the Longonot extinct volcano which is a strato volcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s and its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges “.

You can opt to drive via Naivasha for lunch/excursions at an extra cost or drive straight to Nairobi and pass by Kiambethu farm for the tea farm tour inclusive of a three-course buffet lunch (at an extra cost) OR drive straight back to the capital and later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your back home.

We will bring you to your hotel, residence or the airport.

For 8 days we’ve been traveling Kenya’s roads and trails in search of great vistas, beautiful lakes, dream-like savannahs, and all the amazing wildlife that could populate such an awesome landscape.

We hope you had a wonderful safari filled with memories and stories that will last for years. We at Natural World Kenya Safaris can’t thank you enough for your support and trust. Thank you – Asante!
